Paddocks is a residential care home/bungalow that can accommodate and provide care for up to seven individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities and/or autism. Five people currently reside in the home, some who have lived here for over 10 years, others who have joined us more recently.
The home is made up of the main house with 6 individual bedrooms, 3 bath/shower rooms, two communal lounges, laundry room and Kitchen, and one self-contained flat. The gardens wrap around the home with picnic tables a swing and basketball hoops and BBQ all overlooking the horse fields next door. The home is set out for everyone to use the communal space as much or as little as they wish, and to support those that wish to use spaces such as kitchen or laundry rooms with their staff without the presence of others.
Paddocks supports individuals to gain skills through preferred communication methods and routine. We promote person led care that helps us tailor goals to each of the individuals that live here. Activities inside and outside the home range from arts and crafts, puzzles, ball games, disco’s, swimming (in the community or at the local day centre), trips on public transport, walking around the 22-acre grounds, food and personal shopping, college courses or sensory sessions, and various day trips into the community focusing on what our residents favourite activities are.
We are set in the countryside with fields; however, we are also only 5-minute walk from local bus and train links, which our residents use on a regular basis. We promote involvement in the community and each of our residents has their own goal with travelling on public transport and accessing the community, which we support them to reach.
